This is the second book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. You can read my review of the first one here.
As this is the second book in a series, this review might contain some spoilers.
Summary:
Karou has finally gotten the answers she's been searching for her whole life. She knows who and what she is. But the truth hurts; she knows she loved the enemy and the world suffered because of it.
Now she finds herself in the middle of a age-old war, and she has to help rebuild Eretz, though not in the way you might think...
Review:
First of all, I have to say: WHEW! This was a great continuation to this story. It's been a while since I read the first one, and I was a bit concerned I wasn't going to catch up quickly enough, but that wasn't a problem at all.
The writing in this book is stunning, and I loved learning more about this world. I really loved the characters, and I really enjoyed the story. With trilogies, I often feel like the first book is always great, and then the second and the third are a little less great. I often feel like the second book is just written to prepare you for the third, but this, this was a great book in and of its own.
It took turns and twists that I did not expect, and I need to get my hands on the third one ASAP. I just love everything about these books.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys fantasy and amazing writing.
