I haven't read that many short stories, but a lot of them have been popping up on my radar lately, so I thought I would share five I would like to read very soon.
The Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
I recently read Americanah by Adichie and it's easily one of the best books I've ever read. I am in need of more from this author, so I definitely need to get this soon!
At The Mouth of the River of Bees by Kij Johnson
First of all, this cover is a thing of glory (and I'm even scared of bees, so that says something). This is a collection of science fiction stories, which sounds right up my alley.
How To Breathe Underwater by Julie Orringer
This is contemporary collection, and I've heard great things about this. It has also won some awards, which is usually a good sign.
The Shell Collector by Anthony Doerr
Another author that I adore and want to read more from! Doerr writes beautifully, so it'll be interesting to see if it shines through in this.
The Last Animal by Abby Geni
Basically... I just really like this cover. I've read some fantastic reviews of this as well.
What do you think of short story collections? Have you read any good ones?
