Review:
This book was quite surprising. I very much enjoyed it.

This tale is dark, twisted and fascinating. Though there's quite a bit of history in this, it isn't hard to follow. Personally, though I very much like reading about history, sometimes I find it a bit dry. That was not the case with this book, it's very enticing. It's more like you're taken on a journey and get to see it from the inside.

The writing is quite good. The author creates magnificent scenes in several vivid settings. I found many of the characters very enthralling, both in the stories of the past and the present.

I would recommend this story if you like dark and gloomy books. I think it'll be particularly intriguing for anyone who in interested in Chinese history.
