This is a collection of essays, all discussing feminist topics such as "mansplaining", rape culture, sex scandals and marriage.

I just have to start off by saying that I had very high hopes for this book, and though I wasn't disappointed, I wasn't blown away either.

I felt like this book is meant to be a lot more shocking than I experienced it to be. There are a lot of statistics in here that are pretty awful, but I already knew of. Therefore it didn't feel like it was adding anything new to my personal ideas about the subject.

There were parts of this I definitely enjoyed, especially the first essay. I especially lost interest in the part that deals with Virginia Woolf and Susan Sontag. It made the book feel a little all over the place.

I think this would make a good book for people who are new to reading about feminism, and I think perhaps especially enlightening for men who are perhaps not as understanding about this subject.

  1. The book looks really really beautiful, but if it doesn't really live up to your expectations it's still a bit of a let down, isn't it? However, I'm not really familiar with the history of feminism, so this might be something for me ..

    1. It was a bit of a letdown. But I think it can be a good place to start with feminist books!
