The Book Castle Birthday Giveaway
NOW CLOSED

Wooh!

The Book Castle is turning one whole year on June 15th (huzzah!), and to celebrate I will be doing a giveaway for all of you who have come along on this little journey. This is also a celebration of my Tumblr having reached over 4000 followers, which is crazy.

This blog is a celebration to books, and I'm guessing you're here because you share my obsession. I've been thinking a lot about what books to give away, and in the end I landed on two of my favourite books, as I want to share the love!

One reader will win this hardback edition of Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontΓ«.

And one reader will win this hardback edition The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

I will be making a little box of fun treats to accompany the book as well, though nothing too fancy.

As I also love hearing about everyone else's favourite book, I want to know what yours is!

Now, just to make everything clear, here are the rules:
  • The giveaway will run from the moment this post goes up on the 11th of June until the 15th of June at 12.00 GMT +2.00.
  • There are two separate prizes, as stated above.
  • You can only enter once, and you cannot win both prizes.
  • The giveaway is international so you can live anywhere.
  • You must be above 13 years of age.
  • I will randomly select two winners and make contact via e-mail, and you must reply within 24 hours of receiving the e-mail. If you do not reply, I will select someone else, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled!
  • You must be comfortable giving me your address. I will not share this with anyone.
  • You must include your e-mail in the comment, so I can reach you!
  • What you need to do is to comment on this post telling me a little bit about yourself, what book you would like and most importantly: what is YOUR favourite book?

Good luck!

This giveaway is closed. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Lucky Taryn from Colorado, US won The Secret Garden box!

...and lovely Lotte from the Netherlands won Jane Eyre box!

Congrats! I hope you both enjoy these as much as I have.

  1. Hi, my name is Ritta and I live in Portugal =) I've been meaning to read more classics this year so winning this giveaway would be the best. I would prefer to receive Jane Eyre though, that hardback edition is beautiful and that's a book I've been meaning to get my hands on. My fdavourite series of all time is probably Harry Potter (obviously) but if I could only choose a book, probably The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. My e-mail is: anarittafp@gmail.com

  5. Hi Alice !
My name is Isis and I'm french student. I've always been passionate about the English literature of the 19th Century. The BrontΓ« sisters (Wuthering heights, Jane Eyre, The professor), Thomas Hardy (Tess, Far from the madding crowd) and E.M. Forster (A room with a view) are my favorite writers. That's why I'm particularly interested in this beautiful edition of Jane Eyre !

    1. Oh my goodness! You named my favorite authors as well. My all time favorite novels are Jane Eyre and A Room With A View. Have you read any Jane Austen? She's another 19th century author I love!

One of my favorite books of all time is This Is All by Aidan Chambers, an amazing coming of age novel - it's not very well known but it's wonderfuI. I adore that edition of Jane Eyre and would love to add it to my little library!

  7. Hello. First of all, thank you for giving us this opportunity. What could I tell you of myself? I'm from Spain and I do enjoy reading in my free time. I rather Mystery, Fantasy and History books. I would like "The Secret Garden", I have already read it (I borrowed from my local library), but I don't have a copy. I do love the development of the plot. About my favourite book ... it's kind of difficult to name just one, but I must point one, so I would say "Dragons of Spring Dawning" which is is the third book in the Dragonlance Chronicles series (Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis). The trilogy is amazing (in my opinion).

  8. My love for books started with Enid Blyton during school days; once I discovered her books in the library, spend hours browsing through them. One of my recent biases is Haruki Murakami.
The books that I read recently and enjoyed were Replay by Ken Grimwood and Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel.

  9. HI there, congratulations this is such a big milestone :D
Can't believe you want to know a bit about me, I'm not that interesting :P I'm from the Netherlands and reading has become the most important thing in my life. I've always loved to read but the last few years I slipped into a depression and reading literally saved my life. It made me realize that maybe all I needed was a little fiction goodness to escape the cruel and ugly reality.

I don't really have a favorite book but the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton surely belong to the bunch that I can re-read anytime. I've heard a lot about Jane Eyre but haven't read the book yet. So I'm in it to win that one...plus it looks so pretty and classy :D

  10. Hi Alice! I'm Katherin and I'm from Peru. I'm an architecture student and I love reading books. From harry potter to Mr Murakami's books. I do tend to read scify and fantasy books the most. One of my favorite books is Little Women by Louise May Alcott. That book made a huge impact in my chilhood because I was a lonely child and I dont have sisters. So the characters became like family to me.
The Bronte sisters have a special place in my bookshelf though. And I'd love to win the hardback edition of Jane Eyre. Thank you for the giveaway!

  14. Hi, I'm Jay, and I think my favourite books are 'I Capture the Castle' by Dodie Smith, 'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Bronte, or, actually, 'The Secret Garden'; I read it first when I was about 7/8 and have loved it ever since! Either book would be a beautiful edition to my home library! - jayalicefox@gmail.com

  15. My name is Grace, I'm from Minneapolis, MN and I cannot pin down my favorite book. It's a toss-up between 'To Kill a Mockingbird' by Harper Lee, 'Crime and Punishment' by Fyodor Dostoevsky, or 'Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You' By Holly Black with possibly the most staggeringly beautiful illustrations I've ever seen supplied by Tony DiTerlizzi.I would cherish either book, but I think that 'Jane Eyre' would be more at home on my bookshelf. I love your blog to pieces.

  16. Hello!!
My name is Taryn, and I'm an illustrator and blogger from Colorado. My favorite book is undoubtedly a Harry Potter book, and while I love them all dearly I tend to favor Order or the Phoenix a bit more (but don't tell the others).
I do love both of these books (the covers are gorgeous!), I think The Secret Garden would be my top choice because it's a book that's been on my to-read list for far too long. Thank you for the giveaway! <3
