Review:
I love a good adventure book, especially those exploring adventure and history, but unfortunately, this did very little for me.

Maybe I went into this with the wrong expectations, but I had thought there would be more in here about the historical and cultural aspects of the travels the author went on, or perhaps more about the meaningful connections she made with people along the way. I found this much more on the navel gazing side though and I felt zero connection to the places we see in this book or any of the people in it. The whole thing felt steeped in privilege and lacking in depth, and I found most of it dreadfully boring.

There's one redeeming quality to this book and it's that the author is a good writer; Harris can surely put together a beautiful sentence. The determination it takes to go on and complete this sort of adventure is also somewhat admirable.

Overall, not at all my thing.
