Review:
I was so excited about this book but I sadly didn't enjoy this nearly as much as I thought I was going to.

The story in and of itself is not uninteresting; we've got a vibrant setting, a mysterious protagonist and the society he roams in is filled with interesting characters. What I didn't get on with was the writing style. It's clear the author has spent loads of time researching this period and wants to get it right, but does so to such an extent that it feels like it's getting in the way; I felt like I kept getting stuck because of it.

I struggled so much I ended up skimming the last 150 pages because I just couldn't force myself to read it normally, I got so frustrated with the writing. I just wanted to get it over with because I just wasn't enjoying it.

So unfortunately, not my jam at all.
