Review:
This was a very enjoyable and entertaining read, with the perfect amount of spookiness.

This is a fantastic mix of historical fiction, mystery and adventure, all genres that I generally enjoy, so it's no surprise that I had a great time reading this. I loved getting to know the characters and I like that the mystery here is a locked-room type thing. All the superstition and occult stuff was also fun to read about, and I loved it when things got a little creepy and spooky.

I also very much enjoyed the setting of the boat and the time period; there are things that are not historically accurate in here, which Turton mentions in a note in the back, and honestly, I didn't care about that in the slightest.

The only downside to this book is that it's a little too long. It takes quite a while before anything really happens with the mystery and it does drag in parts, and there are some chapters that you could argue get quite boring.

Overall though, I really enjoyed this. I think Turton's book The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle will remain my favorite of his for now, but this really was a lot of fun and I'm already looking forward to see what Turton writes next.
