Review:
I've previously read one other book by Shafak and very much enjoyed it, and a lot of people recommended this to me, so I figured I'd give it a go.

There's something about this authors writing that I adore; I love how she creates characters, how we get inside their minds and hearts and get to follow them on their paths for a little while. In this particular story, we explore faith, love and truth, all in an interesting and reflective way.

Now, this is the kind of book where we read two different stories at once; we follow Ella in present day and then we've got a historical perspective, and I found myself much more intrigued by the historical one. I think that although this is a well written novel, I found myself a bit bored at times as well, because I just don't particularly care about romance plotlines, and although this discusses love in a lot of ways, towards the end I found myself losing a bit of interest as the story geared towards that aspect of it.

I also think this book is a tad too long and drags out in parts, but the writing really is very good and I liked it a lot, even if I didn't love it.
