This is a true crime nonfiction book, and I'm not entirely sure what it's really about, but I know it's about a mystery from the 1920's and it's by the author who wrote The Lost City of Z, which I read a while back and thoroughly enjoyed.
American War by Omar El Akkad

This is a dystopian science fiction novel about a second Civil War, a devastating plague and an America that turns it's deadliest weapons upon itself.
