Review:
This was such a great read, and just the kind of historical fiction I adore.

I thought this was well written, amazingly atmospheric and I absolutely loved reading about the characters, which were a good mix of good ones with more detestable ones. The historical setting also works well and feels very vivid. I perhaps especially enjoyed the female characters, who come in all shapes and of all minds in this story.

This book has a lot of layers and it touches on topics like class, gender and sexuality and I think it does this wonderfully. It is a book about boxing, but also about people and everything that comes with that.

I do think some parts dragged on a bit, especially in the earlier chapters, but other than that, I have no complaints. It was highly enjoyable and rather thrilling in points, which is not so often the case with historical fiction. I would highly recommend it, especially if this is a genre you already enjoy.
