Title: The Mistletoe Murder and Other Stories
Author: P. D. James
Published: 2016
Language: English
Pages: 144
Rating: 4/5
Summary:
This book contains four the best Christmas mysteries by a "Queen of Crime", the beloved P. D. James.
Review:
When I bought this, I heard someone describe this as a book filled with cosy mysteries. And that is very much what it was. It has drawn inspiration from the Golden Era of mystery fiction, which I love, so there's no surprise I really enjoyed this.
It's quite a feat to manage to create a viable mystery within only a few dozen pages, but James does this successfully. The writing is simple but creates a clear and vivid story. It has all the hallmarks of a typical mystery, but it's just done really well.
I just love a good British murder mystery and I found this highly enjoyable and it was very little effort to like. I definitely want to pick up more of her work, because this is the first I've read, and I would highly recommend it if you like these kinds of mysteries yourself.
