Summary:
This book contains four the best Christmas mysteries by a "Queen of Crime", the beloved P. D. James.

Review:
When I bought this, I heard someone describe this as a book filled with cosy mysteries. And that is very much what it was. It has drawn inspiration from the Golden Era of mystery fiction, which I love, so there's no surprise I really enjoyed this.

It's quite a feat to manage to create a viable mystery within only a few dozen pages, but James does this successfully. The writing is simple but creates a clear and vivid story. It has all the hallmarks of a typical mystery, but it's just done really well.

I just love a good British murder mystery and I found this highly enjoyable and it was very little effort to like. I definitely want to pick up more of her work, because this is the first I've read, and I would highly recommend it if you like these kinds of mysteries yourself.

  1. That's a pretty book! I've seen it in shops everywhere and I was doubting whether to pick it up. I've read Death Comes to Pemberley by her and I was pleasantly surprised. It's about Elizabeth and Mr Darcy and a murder that takes place on their estate ... Revisiting Austen is a dangerous thing, but I think she did it well.
