Title: Christmas Poems
Edited by: J. D. McClatchy
Published: 1999
Language: English
Pages: 256
Rating: 3/5
Summary:
A festive collection of Christmas poetry.
Review:
This was a wonderful little collection of festive poetry. I found it really enjoyable, though there were some poems that I didn't enjoy as much as others. I also found it really enjoyable that it included a lot of Christmas songs in their poetry form.
This is a little repetitive though, as the theme is fairly narrow. It's probably best to space the poems about a bit when you read, so it doesn't all just feel like one poem.
One of my favorite poems from this collecton was Upon Christ His Birth by Sir John Suckling:
Definitely a collection read for the festive season!
You can get this book at The Book Depository*
You can read more about it on Goodreads
Also, the book without the dust jacket! I can never seem to get over how sweet these books are.

Strange news! a city full? will none give way
To lodge a guest that comes not every day?
No inn, nor tavern void? yet I descry
One empty place alone, where we may lie
In too much fullness is some want: but where?
Men's empty hearts: let's ask for lodging there
But if they not admit us, then we'll say
Their hearts, as well as inns, are made of clay.
