Review:
This was a pretty good book. As you may be aware, romance is not my favourite genre, and I am therefore a bit harsh when it comes to love stories when I actually read them because I often find them dull.
I found the writing in this book to be marvellous. I loved the descriptions of both places and people. I thought the characters were mostly fascinating, and I enjoyed the main characters of Emma and Charles Bovary to be the most interesting, as well as their relationship. I found the description of Emmas feelings to be very vivid; boredom, happiness, sadness, anger, longing and so on.
I was, however, a bit bored during parts of this. I cant really pinpoint why, but I think it has something to do with the fact that I was i didn't feel a deep connection to any of the characters. And as mentioned, love stories do sometimes bore me.
Madame Bovary was an enjoyable read though, and I would recommend it if you enjoy romance classics.
