Review:
This was a solid paranormal book, and a good start to what I imagine will be a very cool trilogy.

What I liked best about this was the world this is set in. I loved reading about witches, vampires and daemons, and learning about their different traits. I felt like the characters were pretty strong, and I very much enjoyed the different side-characters, as I felt they really gave something important to the story.

The only thing that bothered me a little bit was the romance aspect of this book. This is mostly because I didn't expect it, so I was a little taken aback. I'm not a huge romance fan, but for me it helps that the characters aren't teenagers, as it usually removes some of the angst that comes with teen love. The romance does happen quite fast though, so that was quite off-putting.

I think what made me enjoy it so much, was that when I realized it was going to have its fair share of romance, I just went with it. You have to take the book for what it is: a romance story with really fascinating magical elements. I am actually quite excited to read the next one.

Though it feels a bit slow at times, I would recommend this to people who enjoy paranormal romance with quite a bit of history to it.
