Top 10: Books of 2014 Part II (1-5)

The year is coming to an end, and it's time to tell you my top 10 books of 2014. This is the second part, and these are my absolute favourites of this year from 5 - 1.

An urban fantasy with the main character Karou, who lives two lives: one as an art student in Prague, and another as the errand girl for a monster in another world. Her job is collecting teeth.

I really loved this book. The writing is great and it felt very different from other "typical" fantasy. Have yet to read the next ones, but will get to it veeeery soon.

I think this book is better if you go in blind, so I will reveal very little. It's a love story set in several different time periods, and in the end they all tie together.

What I can tell you is that this is very different and very fascinating. The writing is beautiful and it's just... amazing.

Historical fiction set during World War II. The story is from two points of view: one of a blind French girl, and one of an orphan Nazi youth.

This one just hit me right in the heartstrings. I absolutely loved the characters, and it was just such a beautiful story (This also won the Goodreads Choice Award 2014 for Historical Fiction, if you're still not convinced).

Finally got around to this classic, and I absolutely loved it. My favourite classic I've ever read by far. If you're unaware, this is the story of Jane Eyre, a plain girl who starts working as a governess in a mysterious house with an even more mysterious employer; the dark and strange Mr. Rochester.

The characters are rich, the writing is beautiful, and it's not actually that difficult to read. Loved it!

A paranormal story set in the 1920's in New York. Evie O'Neill is living with her uncle who is called in to help solve a murder.

I realize I've gone on and on about this book, but it's the best book I read all year. I absolutely loved the writing. It's mysterious, scary, charming... The characters are amazing, the setting is amazing, the story is amazing, everything is just amazing. One of my all time favourite books!
So, there you go! Those are my top favourite books of the year. What's your favourite book of the year?
