Summary:
America is a Five. She's also one of The Selected, one of about three dozen very lucky girls who get to compete for the heart of the Prince of Illéa. She has one in thirty-five chance at being the next Queen, and raising not only herself from her poor status, but also her family. It's the chance of a lifetime, and so many girls would die to be in her spot. America hates being one of The Selected.

Drawn between a new life and her old, a new love and an old one, this is the story of America Singer.

Review:
I found this book to be quite enjoyable. I was really in the mood for this kind of story, and that definitely helped. I really liked the world this was set in, with the caste system, and I really want to know more.

The Selection is a light and easy read with an uncomplicated writing style. If you're looking from breathtaking prose and a completely original and thought provoking plot, this is not your book. It's borders on cliché at some points, it's plot is not completely unpredictable, and there's the very standard love triangle going on.

However, I must admit, I really, really enjoyed it. It was really easy to follow, and it's fun, and I personally really like the main character. Since this is a series, I am definitely going to read the next ones, because this is PERFECT for when you don't really want to think that much. You can just sit back and read.

The best way to describe this story is like a modern, lightly dystopian version of The Bachelor. So, if you're into that kind of thing, I think you will really enjoy this.

You can get this book at The Book Depository*, or at your local bookstore.
